Port Charlotte man dies after being thrown from truck and hit by car
DESOTO COUNTY, Fla. – A 20-year-old Port Charlotte man died Saturday night after he was thrown from the back of a pickup truck and hit by a Sedan, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The 20-year-old was riding in the bed of a pickup truck driven by a 19-year-old Arcadia teen with five other passengers on the shoulder of State Road 70 near NW Pine Level Street around 11:45 p.m.
A Sedan driven by a 60-year-old Arcadia man was driving the opposite direction on SR 70 when the truck turned causing the 20-year-old to fall out onto the road and right into the path of the Sedan, troopers said.
The Port Charlotte man was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
