Paralyzed woman rescued from fire that ignited while she was smoking in bed

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. — A 63-year-old disabled woman made it out alive after her home erupted in flames when her oxygen hose caught fire as she was smoking in bed, officials said. Deputies with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a structure fire in the 800 block of St. Francis Street in Brooksville around 2 a.m. on Thursday. The paralyzed woman and her two dogs were trapped inside, deputies said. Gov. DeSantis signs bill making alcohol to-go drinks permanent in Florida

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. [WPTV] – Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill on Thursday morning making alcohol to-go a permanent fixture in Florida. The governor originally signed an executive order during the pandemic allowing alcoholic to-go beverages to help businesses during the 2020 safer at home order. The bill set parameters — the sale of to-go drinks must be cut off either at midnight or when food service ends for the day. Times Square shooting suspect caught in Florida after running out of gas

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WTLV) — The man accused of shooting two women and a toddler in New York City’s Time Square on Saturday was detained near Jacksonville. Farrakhan Muhammad was found and taken into custody at a McDonald’s located at 802 South Walnut Street in Starke, according to NBC affiliate WTLV. Florida deputies rescue kitten that hitched ride under patrol car

MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – Monroe County deputies saved a kitten on Monday after they found it hitching a ride under a deputy’s patrol car. Reports came in just after 9 a.m. of a kitten running close to traffic on the Seven Mile Bridge.
