FORT MYERS, Fla.– The Fort Myers City Council has extended Fort Myers Police Chief Diggs’ contract. The contract was set to expire in August. Chief Diggs joined the council meeting through Zoom when he was asked if he would like to stay in Fort Myers, Monday night. “While these are challenging times my commitment to improving the public safety in the city of Fort Myers is unwavered,” said Diggs. Citizens help remove people from flipped car on SR 82 in Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. – One person was taken to the hospital after a rollover crash on SR 82 and Buckingham Road in Fort Myers on Saturday. The Fort Myers Police Department said traffic was down to one lane on SR-82 north. Officers said no one was seriously injured, but one was taken to the hospital. At least three cars were involved in the crash. Citizens stopped to help lift the car that flipped on SR 82 to help everyone get out of the car, according to Fort Myers police.
