VIDEO: Manta ray gracefully glides up to police boat
SARASOTA, Fla. – A manta ray got up close and personal with a police boat this weekend.
A marine patrol boat with the Sarasota Police Department was floating just north of New Pass on the Gulf side when the large ray popped by for a visit.

“We sure serve and protect paradise,” the department said in a Facebook post.
Manta Rays average around 22 feet and weigh as much as 4,000 pounds, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission [FWC]. Giant mantas can usually be found in near-shore waters, near coral and rocky reefs.
