NAPLES, Fla. – Naples City Manager Charles Chapman resigned during Thursday’s council meeting. City officials said there were a lot of disagreements during the meeting. Councilman Ted Blankenship said during the meeting that he thought the city manager should resign. City Manager Chapman made the decision to resign immediately. FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Fort Myers city council approved the new city manager’s contract, but not before addressing accusations of racism and discrimination against the man picked for the job. Members of the Lee County NAACP spoke about the claims during Wednesday’s special meeting. Community members said Marty Lawing has a history of racism and discrimination in his past jobs in North Carolina.
