Fire on capsized cargo ship extinguished using seawater

The fiery wreckage of a cargo ship off the Georgia coast has been extinguished, according to a press release from the St. Simons Sound Incident Unified Command, as responding firefighter teams continue to monitor for additional flames. Use caution: High wildfire risk on Saturday

Paralyzed woman rescued from fire that ignited while she was smoking in bed

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. — A 63-year-old disabled woman made it out alive after her home erupted in flames when her oxygen hose caught fire as she was smoking in bed, officials said. Deputies with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a structure fire in the 800 block of St. Francis Street in Brooksville around 2 a.m. on Thursday. The paralyzed woman and her two dogs were trapped inside, deputies said. The woman told 911 dispatchers that her oxygen hose caught on fire while she was smoking in her bed and her bedroom caught on fire as a result, deputies said....

Fire destroys car, ignites woods in Lehigh Acres

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – A fire ripped through a car and set a wooded area ablaze in Lehigh Acres Sunday afternoon. The fire started around 1 p.m. and left the car totaled, according to the car’s owner. Fire tears through Naples home

NAPLES, Fla. – A two-alarm fire tore through a Naples home just after midnight Sunday. Fire crews said flames were burning the roof of the home on Cypress Woods Drive around 12:26 a.m. Heavy smoke could be seen billowing from the top of the home. North Collier Fire, Naples Fire Rescue and Greater Naples Fire were all on scene battling the blaze. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
