“Darling” manatee released after recovering from red tide-related illness

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office helped return a 1,100-pound manatee back to the wild on Wednesday. The manatee, nicknamed “Darling,” was rescued by LCSO deputies on February 13 after it got stuck in some mangroves and needed treatment for red tide-related health issues. Darling was transferred to Zoo Tampa for treatment and rehabilitation. On May 12, Darling was deemed healthy enough to head back to the wild. 95-year-old man becomes oldest organ donor in US history

A woman who is recovering from a liver transplant not only has a new lifesaving organ, but one that made history. That’s thanks to Cecil Lockhart from Welch, West Virginia, who died at age 95 on May 4, making him the oldest organ donor in United States history, according to the Center for Organ Recovery & Education, which coordinated the recovery of the liver. Eastern diamondback rattlesnake gets health check-up at Naples Zoo

NAPLES, Fla. — Vet techs and reptile keepers worked together to complete a successful check-up for a venomous resident of the Naples Zoo. Glass Animal Hospital staff used a long, clear tube to put the Eastern diamondback snake under anesthesia. Chick-fil-A is limiting the number of sauces it’s giving out to customers as the chain faces a shortage. The chicken chain said the shortage is due to industry-wide supply chain issues.
