CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. – A Charlotte County deputy jumped into action to rescue an osprey that seemed to be unable to fly from out of the water on Saturday. According to the sheriff’s office, Cpl. Williams spotted an osprey in the water near marker 11 north of Palm Island. The osprey appeared to be unable to fly, so Cpl. Williams quickly put on his gloves and rescued the bird from the water as it was desperately trying to to grab onto the boat. The osprey was turned over to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to be taken to a treatment facility.

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – Collier County deputies are looking for a missing teen and her one-year-old daughter. The 17-year-old, Sarah Joseph, and her one-year-old daughter, Iyana Victor were last seen by family leaving her Golden Gate home on May 4, according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office. Detectives said she ran away and took her daughter with her. CCSO said Joseph is described as five feet seven inches tall and 135 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office helped return a 1,100-pound manatee back to the wild on Wednesday. The manatee, nicknamed “Darling,” was rescued by LCSO deputies on February 13 after it got stuck in some mangroves and needed treatment for red tide-related health issues. NAPLES, Fla. — Vet techs and reptile keepers worked together to complete a successful check-up for a venomous resident of the Naples Zoo. Glass Animal Hospital staff used a long, clear tube to put the Eastern diamondback snake under anesthesia.
