Construction is happening in the southbound Kings Highway from Midway Boulevard to Olean Boulevard every day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Warning signs for the construction will be posted, so plan ahead if you’re traveling through the area. The work being done will improve manholes in linear ponds. The road closure is necessary and will give the contractor safe access to the area. FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. — A car that slammed into a fire hydrant caused a major water leak on Fort Myers Beach on Memorial Day, officials said. The flooding stopped both directions of traffic near the Big Carlos Pass on Estero Boulevard for over half an hour. Some people were seen getting out of their cars while waiting on the bridge. FORT MYERS, Fla. – One person was taken to the hospital after a rollover crash on SR 82 and Buckingham Road in Fort Myers on Saturday. The Fort Myers Police Department said traffic was down to one lane on SR-82 north. Officers said no one was seriously injured, but one was taken to the hospital. FORT MYERS, Fla. — Deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a car that crashed into the front of a home on New York Avenue in Fort Myers late Thursday night. Multiple LCSO cruisers were seen at the location where a white sedan flipped and hit a home and at least one other vehicle. NBC2 crews saw a damaged LCSO K9 cruiser at the scene.
