Elon Musk’s ‘Starlink’ Satellite spotted in Sanibel
SANIBEL, Fla.— Ricky Williamceau and his buddies went out for an evening fishing trip on Monday.
One of the men in the group noticed something in the sky and told everyone to look up. What they saw looked like a string of stars, one right after the other.
“Woah. Everyone was kind of like ‘oh my God’,” said Williamceau.
For a moment, they all watched in disbelief wondering if they had just seen a UFO.
While it looked out of this world, the bright lights were actually part of Elon Musk’s latest satellite internet project called ‘Starlink’.
“It looked like, I would say, little stars on a belt, on a conveyor belt going upwards and then they just disappeared into the abyss you couldn’t see them anymore,” Williamceau said.
The goal of Starlink Satellite is to bring internet to people all over the world particularly in rural and remote locations. According to Musk’s company, SpaceX, they already have 500,000 preorder subscriptions for Starlink.
Starlink plan’s to offer services in Southwest Florida by the end of 2021.
