Disney CEO: Attendance caps are beings raised, company considers future of masks

ORLANDO, Fla. [AP] – Disney’s CEO said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s decision to ease up mask-wearing requirements for fully vaccinated people is “very big news for us.” On a conference call on Thursday, CEO Bob Chapek mentioned that there could be a change to the mandatory mask requirement at Disney parks in the near future because of the CDC’s new guidelines. “Particularly, if anybody’s been in Florida in the middle of summer with a mask on. Cape Coral COVID-19 vaccine site opens next week

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — The City of Cape Coral is teaming up with Curative to offer coronavirus vaccine to the community. Starting Monday, May 17, people can get a COVID-19 shot at the current testing site located across from City Hall at 1020 Cultural Park Boulevard. Algae covers water from Lake Okechobee to Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla.– Algae is covering water from Lake Okechobee down to Fort Myers. Right now, more than half of Lake Okeechobee is covered by algal blooms. Captains For Clean Water co-founder Chris Wittman said it’s too late to make a big change for our summer. Local teens begin getting Pfizer vaccine after FDA authorization

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Teenagers began getting the COVID-19 vaccine Thursday after the recent FDA authorization that allows people aged 12-15 to get the Pfizer vaccine. FORT MYERS, Fla. — Millions of people are suffering in India, with high COVID-19 case numbers and low levels of medical supplies. A Southwest Florida nurse is doing her part to help. Blue-green algae toxins detected at Franklin Lock on Caloosahatchee

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Blue-green algae toxins have been detected near Franklin Lock on the Caloosahatchee River in Lee County. The Florida Department of Health in Lee County said they have issued a health alert for the ramp. When blue-green toxins are detected, health officials do recommend that people avoid contact with the water. Blue-green algae can cause gastrointestinal effects if swallowed, according to FDOH officials. CDC drops mask requirements for fully vaccinated people

NBC News – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC] announced that individuals who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 no longer need to wear masks or socially distance inside or outside in most situations. The update comes more than a year after the CDC issued guidelines recommending that Americans wear a mask to protect against the virus. FDA approves the use of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for ages 12-15

(NBC News)– The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 12 to 15 on Monday afternoon. As reported by NBC news, this decision will make millions of shots available.
