Man dead in fiery DeSoto County crash
DESOTO COUNTY, Fla. – A man died just before 1 a.m. Sunday after a DeSoto County crash that caused the pickup truck he was driving to go up in flames, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said a man driving south on NW Eucalyptus Avenue near NW Sycamore Street when he ran off the road and hit a tree.
The pickup truck then caught fire and became engulfed in flames on the shoulder of Eucalyptus Avenue, investigators said.
The man was pronounced dead on scene. Trooper said the identity of the man is still unknown as crews work to investigate.
