Publix to offer walk-up COVID vaccines at Florida pharmacies

FLORIDA – Publix locations in Florida will start offering walk-up COVID-19 vaccinations starting Monday, May 10, Publix officials said. Publix currently offers the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines. Vaccines will be administered via both walk-up and scheduled appointments as supply allows. Customers who decide to receive the Moderna vaccine will automatically be given an appointment for a second dose. Appointments can be made at publix.com/covidvaccine. Man dead in fiery DeSoto County crash

DESOTO COUNTY, Fla. – A man died just before 1 a.m. Sunday after a DeSoto County crash that caused the pickup truck he was driving to go up in flames, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said a man driving south on NW Eucalyptus Avenue near NW Sycamore Street when he ran off the road and hit a tree. The pickup truck then caught fire and became engulfed in flames on the shoulder of Eucalyptus Avenue, investigators said. The man was pronounced dead on scene. Fire tears through Naples home

NAPLES, Fla. – A two-alarm fire tore through a Naples home just after midnight Sunday. Fire crews said flames were burning the roof of the home on Cypress Woods Drive around 12:26 a.m. Heavy smoke could be seen billowing from the top of the home. North Collier Fire, Naples Fire Rescue and Greater Naples Fire were all on scene battling the blaze. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Moorehaven man seriously injured in Glades County rollover crash

GLADES COUNTY, Fla. – A 32-year-old Moorehaven man was seriously injured in a rollover crash Saturday on State Road 78 near Marshall Field Road. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was driving a van along SR 78 around 11 a.m. when he crossed the centerline and hit a trailer that was being pulled by a 63-year-old Labelle man also driving a van. Midpoint Bridge closes while police investigate deadly shooting

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – One person was killed and another was seriously injured in an early Sunday morning shooting. All access to the Midpoint Bridge was blocked just after 2 a.m. along with the intersection of Veterans Memorial Parkway at Del Prado Boulevard.
