SARASOTA, Fla. – A manta ray got up close and personal with a police boat this weekend. A marine patrol boat with the Sarasota Police Department was floating just north of New Pass on the Gulf side when the large ray popped by for a visit. WATCH: “We sure serve and protect paradise,” the department said in a Facebook post. Manta Rays average around 22 feet and weigh as much as 4,000 pounds, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission [FWC]. Robber swinging club with nails whacks person on Naples Beach

NAPLES, Fla. — Two people on Naples Beach were robbed by a person with a “stick” or “club” with nails sticking out of it on Friday, police said. Officers with the Naples Police Department responded to reports of an armed burglary near 25 12th Avenue South. When they arrived at the scene, the two victims and some witnesses were standing with a Pier Guard. Body of missing Florida 13-year-old found

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. [FIRST COAST NEWS]- A St. Johns County 13-year-old girl was last seen early Sunday morning in her Durbin Crossing neighborhood, prompting a 16-hour search. The search ended when searchers found a body, which the St. Johns County sheriff believes to be the missing teenager Tristyn Bailey. Bailey was last seen at 1:15 a.m. near the Durbin Amenity Center. Tourist stranded after strong winds damage glass bridge

LONGJING, China / CNN — Officials are blaming extreme weather for causing a terrifying incident that left one tourist stranded on a glass-bottomed suspension bridge in northeast China on May 7. Colonial Pipeline cyber attack won’t affect Florida’s gas supply, but prices could shift

A cyber attack on Friday caused a major U.S.fuel pipeline to temporarily halt operations as officials work to mitigate the threat. A Russian criminal group called DarkSide could be responsible for using ransomware to extort the Colonial Pipeline, which carries fuel from Texas and supplies states across the southeastern US and up to the New York Harbor, NBC News reported. Walk-up COVID vaccine appointments accepted as demand drops

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Gone are the days of 3 a.m. alarms just to score a coronavirus vaccine appointment. Now, people can walk into a Publix, CVS or Walgreens in Florida and get a COVID-19 shot. No appointment needed. At Publix, customers can choose from the Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Deputies investigate scene on Tice Street

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Law enforcement and rescue crews responded to a scene on Tice Street and Figuera Avenue on Sunday.
