Punta Gorda motorcyclist dies weeks after Arcadia crash

ARCADIA, Fla. – A 64-year-old Punta Gorda man died Friday nearly one month after he was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries following a crash in Arcadia. Around 11:30 a.m. on April 12, a pickup truck driven by a 22-year-old Arcadia woman was pulling a utility trailer on County Road 760 near SW Nipper Avenue when the trailer detached from the truck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Mailbox obliterated in Lehigh Acres hit-and-run crash

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – A Lehigh Acres man, who lives on 59th Street West near Susan Ave North, said he had his mailbox smashed by a white van. Welter Almeida said it was around 6 p.m Friday night, when he heard a loud bang come from outside his house. “At first I was thinking, it has to be an ATV because their are a lot of ATV’s around here and sometimes they drive pretty fast and sometimes they can be irresponsible,” said Almeida. Midpoint Bridge closes while police investigate deadly shooting

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – One person was killed and another was seriously injured in an early Sunday morning shooting. All access to the Midpoint Bridge was blocked just after 2 a.m. along with the intersection of Veterans Memorial Parkway at Del Prado Boulevard. Someone shot into a car, sending both victims to the hospital, according to Cape Coral police. One person died and the other is in critical condition.
