CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla.– Investigators determined a fire at a home under construction off Egret Place in Charlotte County was set intentionally. The fire happened at the end of February. DESOTO COUNTY, Fla. – A man died just before 1 a.m. Sunday after a DeSoto County crash that caused the pickup truck he was driving to go up in flames, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said a man driving south on NW Eucalyptus Avenue near NW Sycamore Street when he ran off the road and hit a tree.
