Lee County deputy saves sea turtle suffering from red tide

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – A Lee County deputy came to the rescue of an endangered sea turtle after he saw the animal in “obvious distress.” Lee County Sheriff’s Office According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Kyle Hargis sprang into action after a lieutenant noticed the turtle having trouble in the water near the area of Coon Key. 200-acre brush fire sparks in Collier County, voluntary evacuations begin

GOLDEN GATE ESTATES, Fla. – A 200-acre brush fire sparked on 14th Avenue near DeSoto Boulevard in Golden Gate Estates. The Florida Forest Service along with Greater Naples fire crews are responding to the brush fire. Crews battle 300-acre brush fire in Golden Gate Estates

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – A 300-acre brush fire is burning near Dove Tree Street in Golden Gate Estates, according to the Florida Forest Service. Greater Naples Fire and FFS crews, and the Collier County Sheriff’s Office are all on scene as firefighters battle the blaze. A large plume of smoke was seen in the area. Nearly 100 sea turtle nests discovered on Sanibel & Captiva shores

SANIBEL ISLAND, Fla. — Sea turtle nesting season is starting to pick up speed and volunteers are locating and roping off more nests on Sanibel and Captiva shores. Second area of interest emerges in the Gulf of Mexico

There is a new, second area to watch in the tropics and this one is about 800 miles to our west. A disturbance in the western Gulf of Mexico, associated with a surface low pressure, is producing clouds and thunderstorms. Before this disturbance moves onshore into SE Texas or Louisiana sometime Friday, there is a small window of opportunity for marginal development. ‘Ana’ expected to form in the Atlantic

The NBC2 First Alert Hurricane Tracking Team continues to monitor an area of low pressure in the Atlantic, which is showing signs of becoming better organized and could develop into Subtropical Storm Ana in the next two days. The area to watch is currently a non-tropical system about 800 miles east of Bermuda. The National Hurricane Center now gives the system a 70% chance of developing in the next two days and a 90% chance of developing in the next 5 days. Firework starts blaze in Cape Coral neighborhood

CAPE CORAL, Fla.– A lit firework was thrown from a vehicle driving in a Cape Coral neighborhood. A Ring video doorbell camera captured the moment on Monday night just after 10 p.m.  After the vehicle drove off an explosion rocked the neighborhood and started a small brush fire. Retired Cape Coral Police Department K-9 passes away

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – A retired Cape Coral Police Department K-9 passed away after suffering from sarcoma cancer. K-9 Arca, who was recently laid to rest, served with CCPD from 2014-2020, according to the department.
