Animal Control in LaBelle reduces services until next week

LABELLE, Fla. – Animal Control in LaBelle is reducing their services until next week and said residents should not bring animals their way. The facility located off of Rodeo Drive in LaBelle. City officials said they’re restricting services due to shortages on staff. Shelter operators said one employee recently underwent back surgery while the other is on vacation. Estero man sentenced to seven years for child porn

ESTERO, Fla. – A 28-year-old Estero man was sentenced to seven years in federal prison Tuesday after pleading guilty to child porn charges in 2019. Kyle O’Brien was also sentenced to a lifetime of supervised release after the FBI, joined by other agencies, swarmed a unit at the Coastal Village Apartments in Estero to serve a search warrant in April 2019, according to court documents. Driver slams into fire hydrant, causing flooding & delays on Fort Myers Beach

FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. — A car that slammed into a fire hydrant caused a major water leak on Fort Myers Beach on Memorial Day, officials said. The flooding stopped both directions of traffic near the Big Carlos Pass on Estero Boulevard for over half an hour. Some people were seen getting out of their cars while waiting on the bridge. Officials with the Town of Fort Myers Beach said that water pressure in the town was reduced from 8350 Estero Blvd to Island Ends, including Estrelita. Forecast: Rainy season returns

Downpours and thunderstorms are likely for the coastal spots to end the holiday weekend. Any outdoor plans or memorial services for Monday should be completed by the early afternoon as showers and storms become numerous across the area just after lunch time.  With more of an easterly component to the wind, storms will be pinned along the coast as the sea-breeze gets going.  Heavy rain and frequent lightning are likely with any storms that develop. San Carlos Park crews respond to mulch fire at MW Horticulture

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – A mulch fire sparked at MW Horticulture on Thomas Road in Fort Myers on Saturday. San Carlos Park Fire confirms it’s about 50 percent contained and no structure are in danger. Fire fighters are currently trying to get the fire under control before the winds pick up. MW Horticulture’s fire crew is also battling the fire along with San Carlos Park and Estero firefighters. LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Every down, every snap, and every touchdown scored Friday night at Dunbar High School was done so in the name of Zach Martin Polsenburg. Labor shortage crisis cripples some SWFL businesses

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – A labor shortage crisis is crippling some businesses in Southwest Florida. Simply put, there are more jobs than workers. Some people are blaming that on the $1,200 a month in federal unemployment that is set to end. Student driver critically injures father during driving lesson

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — A 65-year-old Naples man is in critical condition after an accident while teaching his son how to drive, officials said. The man was teaching his 34-year-old son from Colombia how to drive, specifically how to park, troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol said. While being guided into a parking space by his father, who was outside of the vehicle, the son stepped on the gas. The SUV launched over the parking curbs and hit the man, troopers said. WATCH: Cars driving nose to bumper on Fort Myers highway

FORT MYERS, Fla.– An interesting tow job caught the attention of drivers on Colonial Boulevard over the weekend. A video taken from a nearby car’s passenger seat shows a the front bumper of a green car connected to the back bumper of a white car, pushing it down the busy boulevard.  In the nearly two minute long video, the two cars separate as they near a stop light before connecting to push the car again at the stoplight.  While some who travel the busy road daily find the video comical, the Florida Highway Patrol doesn’t.  “It’s just a recipe for a problem,”...
