Robber swinging club with nails whacks person on Naples Beach

NAPLES, Fla. — Two people on Naples Beach were robbed by a person with a “stick” or “club” with nails sticking out of it on Friday, police said.

Officers with the Naples Police Department responded to reports of an armed burglary near 25 12th Avenue South. When they arrived at the scene, the two victims and some witnesses were standing with a Pier Guard.

One of the victims told police, “we were just robbed on the beach.” They said someone took their backpack.

An officer noticed that the other victim was holding his knee and bandaging a 1/2-inch puncture wound on his inner knee. He told the officer the suspect hit him with a “stick” or a “club” that had nails sticking out of it.

The person responsible for the robbery has not been found.

If you have any information about the robbery, call SWFL Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
