Collier county rubble pile hidden by fence

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.– For the past several months, concrete has piled up on the corner lot of Santa Barbara and Davis Boulevard. Recently, a fence was added to keep the rubble out of sight. Medina Spirit can race in Preakness despite failing drug test after Derby

(NBC) Medina Spirit has been cleared to race in the Preakness Saturday despite testing positive for a steroid after winning the Kentucky Derby. Trainer Bob Baffert revealed Medina Spirit tested positive for betamethasone, which put his Derby win in question. Shortly after the announcement, officials at Churchill Downs, where the Kentucky Derby is held, said Baffert would be suspended indefinitely from the track. Family dog kills newborn in Monday night attack

NORWICH, Conn. / CNN — A 1-month-old baby is dead after being attacked by a dog in Norwich, Connecticut on Monday night. Officers responded to a home around 8:30 p.m. after reports of a dog attack, police said. When rescue crews arrived, they found an infant that had been attacked by the family’s dog. They said they tried to save the newborn, but the child eventually died of their injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The dog was described as a pit bull mix. Firefighters extinguish Lehigh Acres car fire

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — Rescue crews were able to put out a fire that overtook a car in Lehigh Acres on Tuesday morning. Firefighters with Lehigh Acres Fire Rescue arrived at the scene on 50th Street North and saw a car fully involved with fire quickly spreading to the surrounding grass. Quick work by Engine 102 helped prevent the fire from getting out of control. The fire melted the tires off the car, which looks to be a total loss. No injuries were reported. KAZAN, Russia / CNN — Eight children and a teacher were killed in Russia when two gunmen opened fire at a school in the western city of Kazan on Tuesday.
