Local teens begin getting Pfizer vaccine after FDA authorization

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Teenagers began getting the COVID-19 vaccine Thursday after the recent FDA authorization that allows people aged 12-15 to get the Pfizer vaccine. FORT MYERS, Fla. — Millions of people are suffering in India, with high COVID-19 case numbers and low levels of medical supplies. A Southwest Florida nurse is doing her part to help. Blue-green algae toxins detected at Franklin Lock on Caloosahatchee

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Blue-green algae toxins have been detected near Franklin Lock on the Caloosahatchee River in Lee County. The Florida Department of Health in Lee County said they have issued a health alert for the ramp. When blue-green toxins are detected, health officials do recommend that people avoid contact with the water. DeSoto County home to new FPL solar energy center

DESOTO COUNTY, Fla. — When it comes to renewable energy, DeSoto County is the solar power host with the most. Florida Power & Light Company recently finished construction of the new Rodeo Solar Energy Center. The completion of the project makes DeSoto County home to more FPL solar energy centers than any other county in the state. Chiquita Lock reopens after temporarily closing Thursday for repairs
