Firefighters extinguish Lehigh Acres car fire

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — Rescue crews were able to put out a fire that overtook a car in Lehigh Acres on Tuesday morning. Firefighters with Lehigh Acres Fire Rescue arrived at the scene on 50th Street North and saw a car fully involved with fire quickly spreading to the surrounding grass. Quick work by Engine 102 helped prevent the fire from getting out of control. The fire melted the tires off the car, which looks to be a total loss. No injuries were reported. Forecast: Hot, humid, with inland storms

Not much has changed with the forecast over the last few days as we are starting our transition into rainy season. We’re not into full rainy season just yet, but this transition means our temperatures continue to climb into the low 90s nearly every afternoon, with isolated to scattered storms developing on the seabreeze by lunchtime. Armed Naples beach bandit still at large

NAPLES, Fla.– An armed robber is still on the run in Naples.  The Naples Police Department said the suspect beat somebody with a club that had nails sticking out of it. The beach bandit stole the backpack off a young man on the sand near Naples Pier. The victim and his brother chased the thief. While trying to get away, the stealer swung the club, hitting the victim’s brother in the knee. Punta Gorda doorbell camera captures meteor

PUNTA GORDA, Fla.– A Punta Gorda man received an early morning surprise when he checked his doorbell security camera on Sunday. Jason Warner was at work when his phone went off, alerting him his camera picked up motion. “I looked at it and didn’t know what it was,” said Warner. The video shows a meteor streaking down from the sky before ducking out of the camera’s range. FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla.– A man was caught snapping pictures of women on Fort Myers Beach over the weekend in a video posted to TikTok. The video now has two-million views. Although the mans actions make a lot of people feel uncomfortable, it’s not illegal in a public area like Fort Myers Beach. Two hawk nestlings receive treatment after they were found in a parking lot

SANIBEL-CAPTIVA, Fla.– Two red-shouldered hawk nestlings were found in a parking lot before being taken to a clinic to be treated. CROW veterinarians said said the babies were healthy besides being underweight. Officials said it is likely their home was destroyed. They will recover at CROW until they are back to a healthy weight. Then, staff will re-nest them or find them a foster parent. Feel better, little nestlings!
